For the focus of this project I wanted to show how I can use intricate detail but make it look very simplistic. Each flower has a different shape and color to it making it stand out against the navy blue base. The colors that I used with the flowers were yellow, red, tuxedo black and purple. I decided on thee colors because the flow very well with the piece but still stand out in its own unique way.
This project was so fun to make and I am so happy I will be able to keep and share the story of how it was made and the process bit took so the bowl could look this way. This is my first time doing Raku and I absolutely love it!! I have waited to do this for about a year ever since I saw an example cup shown by Mrs. Heidiman. The color, texture and the look of the cup is just so beautiful and unique and it by far the coolest thing I have ever seen! I love the way this project turned out. This was my first time working with porcelain and making a little project. I felt that the the long run it was much better to glaze with because I felt that it made the colors more vibrant and smooth. I made this cup for my mothers wedding. She wanted to have a cup that represented her and tied in how her and her fiancé met. So I decided to show her flare with a flared cup and beautifully detailed flowers with spounges on textures of green yellow and a slight bit of red. Overall I am very proud how it turned out and I can't wait for my mother to use it. This was the first time I ever made a Franken pot. Making this allowed me to work with two other advanced people and come up with an idea that would work with all of our skills. It was a challenge at first we had to work collaborate and make accommodations according to what the other thought would look good. It was a little bit of a struggle when one of the members was not in class because then we would not know where they had put the Franklin Pot and then we would have to wait another day. But overall I think this came out very nice and the glaze has a nice look to it. I absolutely love how this bowl turned out. The way that the colors contrast from the inside and the outside is perfect. I'm glad that I decided to pinch the tops to make it look like a wave and give it that extra texture I think that this bowl is very fun and vibrant and I will deffinetly be making another one like it. For this plate I decided to make it a little bit smaller to accentuate the detail that I painted onto it. I picked the colors black and metallic brown for this because I want to see what they would look like together and if they would mesh. Overall I love the design but sometimes when I look at it it might look like a spiderweb or Halloween plate.this is very good for putting loose change or putting a cup underneath. This plate turned out great it had the perfect amount of color and he flowers went in very smooth I like how the flowers make it seem more feminine but still does not take away from the plate.there's a great contrast between the black in the purple and yet each color stands by itself and gives a great sense of style. I made this set of three to test out the different shapes that I wanted to make my moms wedding cup in. Also it was a great way you see how the colors worked together. I wanted them to each be different but still the same in a unique way. |
