This is one of my favorite projects. It started out with a pink glaze but it had some patches of white and I decided to reglaze it and it turned out to look like Tye dye and now it holds all my miscellaneous things. I this was a very funky project that I enjoyed making. I dipped this in a metallic brown and it came out fantastic. I wanted to make this design very intricate. This was my first plate that I have made so I wanted to make it simple with a black design. My goal while making this project was to be able to learn how to make bigger projects and eventually have a really big bowl. I decided to glaze this tall bowl purple because I wanted to have a solid color that would show off the structure of the bowl. The original design for this project was supposed to be pink purple and blue rings that wrapped around the cup it was intended to have a fun vibrant feel to it but while putting the final glaze on my cup it started to smear around and there is nothing that I could do. So when I came out of the glaze kiln it ended up being blue with smudges all around the cup. I was a little disappointed with the outcome but it ended up being a good Q-tip holder for my bathroom. This cup I made just for the fun of it when footing it I decided to make some rings around the outside edges. It ended up giving a great texture to the cup and allowing me to put different colors in making a contrast with the black and green. It's a fun cup and I gave it to the library and to hold her pencils in. I have never use this technique of putting glass into the wet clay before it was fired but I thought I would give it a try. I used many different colors to see which one I would like the best for future projects. I really like the blues and greens because they seemed to spread out more and have a rich color to to add to the bowl.
